Gravel Adventure Field Guide collaborated with the Runway Group to create a unique special edition fold-out Field Map highlighting gravel/mountain/road routes from the company’s headquarters in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. Art and graphics from the guide were also added to the walls of the company bike shop.
The purpose of the project was to generate employee awareness and visitation of the Bike Lounge facility available to Runway Group staff. We created a health and wellness themed approach to provide readers with information about the health benefits of cycling, and encourage them to get out on a bicycle during the work week. Ride what you love, love what you ride was the mantra adopted by Gravel Adventure Field Guide.
The Runway Group is an economic development organization led by avid cyclists Stuart and Tom Walton. They believe that active, better–connected communities build a more vibrant, joyful place to live and work. This philosophy guides the decision to offer an employee centric bike shop where employees can check out demo bikes, have theirs worked on, and utilize available gear and accessories to get outside more. Content in this special edition guide conveys why working at a place that wants you on a bicycle is a cool thing.
Getting employees on bicycles produces value at the Runway Group. Cycling builds health and wellness habits that foster a better workplace environment, with employees feeling mentally and physically charged and productive. It gets them actively engaged with the community. Runway’s investments in outdoor recreation, real estate, art, and hospitality requires people working on these projects to be consistently out experiencing Bentonville.
A gravel/mountain/road bike is an exceptional way to achieve a health and wellness need at the Runway Group. More business organizations should consider the benefits of getting their employees on bikes.
This Runway Group / Bentonville is not available to the general public, and can not be purchased online.
Welcome to the RUNWAY Group Bike Lounge. We’re here to help employees and visiting work-staff get outside and inspire you to r the exceptional gravel roads and greenway trail network in Northwest Arkansas.
“Think of bicycles as ridable art
that can just about save the world.”
— Grant Petersen, bicycle designer
Bicycles symbolize personal freedom. They provide vitality and introduce us to people and places from the next street over or to the next city or county. There is no wrong way to enjoy a bicycle. Whether riding a road, mountain, or gravel bike there is no time limit to fun. The journey
is yours to make.
Riding in Northwest Arkansas offers you a chance to see and experience a unique rural quality of life. Where the joy of riding to a local fishing spot, or art exhibition, brings the same level of enthusiasm as the descent down any regional road, trail or path.
Cycling improves your cardiovascular system and lowers risk of disease.
Riding 30 minutes, five days a week, means less sick days than those who don’t.
Increases lung activity and cardiovascular fitness, positively affecting organizational skills, and ability to cope with stress
Exercise helps solve decisions. Riding boosts the flow of oxygen, sparking neurons and providing creative thinking skills.
Cycling greatly reduces the likelihood of a heart attack, cutting the risk of heart disease by 50%.
The Field Map contains 2 Gravel Routes, 2 MTB Routes, and 1 Road Route that link via a QR code to a Ride With GPS Collection Page for digital navigation. Employees can visit the onsite bike shop and sign out a bike for free and go for a ride. We think this is a pretty cool idea and hope to see more companies do this.
